Matte Black Collection
Matte black, without the fingerprints.
The reason most people hesitate on black hardware — solved. One black across every cabinet, drawer and door.
Most black hardware
doesn't stay black.
It picks up every fingerprint. The coating wears thin at the edge you grip. And the handles you bought in January never quite match the hinges that arrived in March.
- FingerprintsAn anti-fingerprint coating, so a black door still looks black after the school run.
- Fading and rustSUS304 stainless underneath, not coated mild steel — which matters in our humidity.
- Mismatched blacksBaskets, hinges, slides, rails and lifts all finished together, so they finally agree with each other.
Black hardware fails in a way chrome never does: it fails visibly. A plated finish that wears at the grip edge shows bare metal against black. A hinge that corrodes in a humid sink cabinet shows orange against black. And two blacks bought six months apart rarely match, because a warm black and a cool black sit side by side and look like a mistake.
These four are the parts that decide whether a black kitchen still reads as deliberate in year five. The Etichetta was Excel's first black soft-closing hinge — SUS304 stainless in matte black, salt-spray tested. The Kucifer 5.0 and Vicenzo Nero carry the same black through the drawer hardware, and the Costanzo finishes the overhead doors in it.

The One Touch Series is Excel's range of motorised cabinet systems — hardware that moves the cabinet's contents to you rather than asking you to reach for them. A touch sensor starts an eight-second powered cycle; there is no handle to pull and nothing to climb on.
In Singapore this solves a specific and very common problem. Ceiling heights are generous, kitchens are not, and the practical consequence is a top shelf that gets used twice a year because reaching it means finding a stool. The Nasconda brings a wall cabinet's contents down through 550 mm of travel; the Vaseria does the same for a loaded dish rack; the Podio raises an appliance up out of a base cabinet to worktop height with a live 220V socket already on the platform.
Two more units in the range work the other side of the home. The Strato handles deep double-layer cabinets with twin motors and a two-position stop, so the upper tier is reachable without cycling the whole unit down. The Riflesso is a concealed vanity mirror that rises 490 mm out of a dresser top with a 4000K LED surround, then disappears flush again.
These units are rated to 20 kg, run at 45 dB or below, are tested to 30,000 cycles, and carry AI obstruction sensing that halts the mechanism the instant it meets resistance. They require a mains supply into the cabinet, so they are specified at carpentry stage, not retrofitted afterwards.

A base cabinet with a fixed shelf wastes roughly half of what you paid for. Things at the back are invisible, so they are bought again; things at the front are moved constantly to reach them. A pull-out basket converts that cabinet from a cupboard you look into to a drawer you look down on.
All four baskets here are SUS304 stainless steel in matte black — the same black as the hinges and slides above, because they are finished together. The Angoli Morti is the corner unit answer, a 2+2 slimline pull-out that brings the dead corner back into use. The Tristrato gives three tiers on full-extension runners. The Damiano and Notturno are soft-closing pull-outs for general base cabinets.

Singapore bedrooms are built tall and narrow, which means the most valuable storage in a wardrobe is the part nobody can reach. A motorised wardrobe lifter brings the top hanging rail down to chest height and returns it, converting a shelf used twice a year into everyday storage.
The Ciao! Alzare is the pull-down hanging rail, rated to 15 kg of clothing, with the V2.0 as its successor. For deep double-layer wardrobe cabinets and concealed dresser mirrors, see the One Touch Series above — the Strato and Riflesso are motorised units from that range.
Specifying black hardware that stays black.
Black is the least forgiving finish in a kitchen. Every one of its common failures is a visible one, and all of them are decided at specification stage rather than discovered later. These are the three worth getting right.
1. Buy the black hardware together, not as you go
The most common complaint about black kitchens is not wear, it is mismatch. Blacks carry an undertone — some warm and brownish, some cool and blue — and two suppliers' blacks placed side by side rarely agree. Ordering the baskets, hinges, slides, rails and lift-ups from one finished range at one time is the only reliable way to avoid it. If you are phasing a renovation, order the black hardware in a single batch even if it is installed months apart.
2. Specify the One Touch units before the carpentry, not after
Every unit in the One Touch Series needs a mains supply run into the cabinet, and each has minimum carcass dimensions — the Nasconda is built for 800 and 900 mm cabinet widths and needs a threading hole in the back panel, the Podio a height of 780 mm or more, the Vaseria and Strato a depth of 312 mm or more. Check the product page for the exact carcass requirement of the size you are specifying. These are carpentry-stage decisions. Retrofitting one into a finished kitchen usually means rebuilding the cabinet.
3. Check the stainless underneath the finish
Colour is a coating; corrosion resistance is the substrate. In Singapore humidity a black finish over mild steel will eventually bloom rust through the coating from beneath. The baskets and the Etichetta hinge in this collection are SUS304 stainless underneath, which is what makes the black durable rather than merely new-looking.
If you would rather not work this out from tables, send the cabinet drawings to sales@excelhw.com.sg and Excel will specify against them.
Black hardware for Singapore renovation projects.
Excel Hardware has manufactured and distributed cabinet hardware from Singapore since 1998, supplying interior design firms, renovation contractors and carpentry workshops alongside direct retail customers. The Matte Black Collection exists because black hardware sourced piecemeal is the single most common cause of a finished kitchen not matching its own renders.
Specifying from one finished range removes that risk: the baskets, hinges, slides, lift-ups and One Touch units here are finished together, so the blacks agree. Lines are held in Singapore rather than indented, which matters when a client has already signed off a black scheme. Full specification sheets, installation manuals and test reports — SGS, TUV and salt-spray where applicable — are published on each product page for submission to clients and main contractors.
Trade accounts, project pricing and specification support are available through the Excel Hardware contact page. The full range is in the Matte Black Collection, with the motorised units in the One Touch Series.
Matte black, answered.
Does matte black hardware show fingerprints?
Gloss and satin black show fingerprints badly, because the oil from skin sits on a reflective surface and catches light. A true matte finish scatters that light instead, so marks are far less visible.
The Excel Matte Black Collection is specified with an anti-fingerprint finish for exactly this reason — it is the objection that stops most people buying black hardware in the first place. Marks still wipe off with a damp cloth; they are simply much harder to see in the first place.
Will black kitchen hardware fade or rust in Singapore?
It depends entirely on what is underneath the colour. Black sprayed over mild steel will eventually bloom rust through the coating from beneath, which in Singapore's humidity can happen within a few years in a sink or hob cabinet.
The hardware in this collection uses SUS304 stainless steel as the substrate, and the Etichetta hinge is salt-spray tested. A stainless substrate is what stops a black finish going patchy at the grip edge.
Why don't my black hardware pieces match each other?
Because black is not one colour. Different manufacturers' blacks carry different undertones — some warm and slightly brown, some cool and slightly blue — and the difference is invisible in a catalogue but obvious when two pieces sit next to each other on the same cabinet.
The only reliable fix is to buy the whole set from one finished range. The baskets, hinges, slides, rails and lift-ups in this collection are finished together, which is the point of grouping them as a collection rather than selling them as separate lines.
What is the Excel One Touch Series?
It is Excel's range of motorised cabinet systems. A touch sensor triggers a powered cycle of roughly eight seconds that moves the cabinet's contents to you — a wall rack down, a base platform up, or a door open — with no handle to pull.
The matte black units are the Nasconda lift rack, the Podio base cabinet platform, the Vaseria dish rack lift and the Velario cabinet door lift. All run at 45 dB or below with AI obstruction sensing that stops the mechanism instantly if it meets resistance.
Can a One Touch lift system be retrofitted to an existing kitchen?
Usually not without rebuilding the cabinet. Each unit needs a mains supply run into the carcass and has minimum internal dimensions — the Nasconda is built for 800 and 900 mm cabinet widths and needs a power threading hole in the back panel, the Podio a height of 780 mm or more, and the Vaseria and Strato a depth of 312 mm or more. Check the product page for the exact requirement of the size you are specifying.
These are decisions taken at carpentry stage. If you are planning a renovation, specify the One Touch units before the cabinets are built rather than after.
How much weight can the One Touch and wardrobe systems carry?
The Nasconda, Podio, Vaseria and Strato are each rated to 20 kg. The Ciao! Alzare wardrobe lifter is rated to 15 kg of hanging clothing.
In practice 20 kg covers a full family set of dinner plates and serving dishes on the Vaseria, or a heavy stand mixer on the Podio. As with any moving hardware, specify with headroom rather than at the limit.
Are the matte black kitchen baskets stainless steel?
Yes. The Angoli Morti, Tristrato, Damiano and Notturno are all SUS304 stainless steel with a matte black finish, and all four use soft-closing or full-extension runners depending on model.
The Angoli Morti is the corner unit — a 2+2 slimline pull-out for the dead corner in an L-shaped run. The Tristrato is a three-tier basket on full-extension runners. Excel does not currently publish load ratings for these four, so check the individual product pages for available cabinet widths before specifying.
Do you supply interior designers and renovation contractors?
Yes. Excel Hardware has supplied Singapore's interior design, renovation and carpentry trade since 1998 alongside direct retail customers. Trade accounts, project pricing and specification support are available.
Because these lines are held in Singapore rather than indented, a signed-off black scheme does not become a long wait. Specification sheets, installation manuals and test reports — including SGS, TUV and salt-spray reports where applicable — are published on each product page for submission to clients and main contractors.
